Today, the Raleigh City Council approved staggered, 4-year terms.
Beginning in 2026, city council (including for mayor) elections will be held as follows:
Group 1: The mayor, and At-Large Seat (the highest vote getter) in District A and B will serve four years.
Group 2: The At-Large Seat (2nd highest vote getter), in Districts C, D, and E will serve for 2 years starting in 2026.
