On Tuesday, April 2, 2024, the Raleigh City Council approved a three-year contract with a private security firm to continue patrols in downtown Raleigh near the GoRaleigh bus station and bus stops on Wilmington and Blount Streets.
Council members Mary Black, Christina Jones, and Megan Patton opposed the motion, possibly due to the lack of hard data regarding the effectiveness of the firm’s security efforts during the past four months.
